Club origins
The Tivoli
Ski club was established back in 1966 when a group of people, mostly from German
and Austrian backgrounds, came together with a common love for skiing. Over the
next two years the club building at Falls Creek was built using money and time
donated by it's 26 members. The original structure consisted of 25 beds, spread
across 7 bedrooms, a dining room, games room, drying room and amenities. Since
that time the club has expanded and now has 29 beds over 10 bedrooms, a games
room, ski room and lounge room.
Mission of the club
From the very start the club has had one purpose and that is
stated at the start of the club rules:
"To promote the interest and participation in all
forms of sporting activities, including skiing, skiing competitions, bush walking
and fishing"
To achieve this it was agreed that the club should be a non-profit
organization and provide facilities at the lowest possible price.
Today, the resort has evolved, but despite the challenges of
operating in a highly competitive business environment, the club
continues to uphold it's promise.
The future
Tivoli has banded together with other Falls Creek lodges to form the
Falls Creek Alpine Association.
The FCAA acts as a conduit for knowledge sharing and presents a single voice to the
governing bodies of the Falls Creek ski resort.
This voice will be used to ensure that clubs like Tivoli continue
to thrive in the ever increasing commercial environment at Falls Creek.
