Directions
Falls
Creek is 375Km from Melbourne with easy access gained via the Hume
Freeway. Just outside Glenrowan (Look for McDonalds on the right) signs
direct the ski traffic to all resorts in the area. At moderate speed,
the journey takes about five hours, the last 32Km being sealed mountain
road.
Brown
Brothers
winery at Milawa is a pleasant place to stop, stretch and maybe sample.
Parking
Parking is available at the base of the village with a fee charged,
winter only, when entering the resort. Contact the
Falls
Creek Resort regarding entrance fees.
Parking is also available off mountain at Mt. Beauty.
This is also the last place chains, petrol and antifreeze are
available.
Snow chains
Chains must be carried on the mountain during the snow season
regardless of conditions.
Police are present on the mountain and all road rules apply within
the village.
Bus service
Pyles
Alpine Coaches
run a service between Melbourne and Falls Creek via
Bright on a regular basis. They also run a shuttle service up and down
the mountain from Mt. Beauty.
An alternative method is to take a train to Albury and from there catch
a bus to Falls Creek.
In-resort transport
During winter, the roads throughout the village are closed to traffic.
This makes it possible to ski from the front door of the lodge to the
lifts and back home again in the afternoon. However, there is no direct
access to the lodge in winter by car.
There are two methods to gain access to the lodge from the car park.
1. Walk (this can be long and arduous)
2.
Oversnow
Transport. (this costs money!)
With a car load of baggage, the Oversnow is the suggested option. The
Oversnow transport terminal can be found on the right side of the main
road about 150m from the entrance of the resort. Back your car up to
the terminal, unload and then park the car as directed.
